Ontario Forklift Instructor Training - Forklift Instructor training certification is recommended for forklift operators who would like to become instructors. To qualify for forklift instructor training, operators must be able to prove they possess a high level of knowledge regarding forklift equipment and have good lift truck driving skills. Instructor training typically is held at an equipment sales facility or at the campus of a junior college, community college, or vocational or technical school. Forklift manufacturing businesses occasionally provide practical, hands-on, train-the-trainer programs.
Whether provided in a classroom environment or at a manufacturing business facility, registering for the course would involve paying a tuition fee, and purchasing manuals, book or other materials. Program length differs depending on the program. Individuals participating normally have to have satisfactory demonstration, test scores and participation during the program in order to qualify for trainer certification.
It is assumed that the trainee taking the instructor program would have prior experience using forklifts. The topics of ethics, teaching techniques, safety issues and curriculum design would be the primary focus during the instructor training program. Participants would learn how to demonstrate to their students various aspects of forklift operation, like for example moving and stacking materials or navigating the lift truck in narrow aisles. People participating would learn how to evaluate student's written tests and demonstrations of their forklift operating skills. The course goal is to be able to prepare trainers to design and execute their very own forklift training programs.
Some self-study of the machinery and manuals is required. Trainers would be expected to make their own curriculum, that meets regulation guidelines when it comes to topics presented, such as Safety and Operation. Like for instance, the subject of Safety must include an understanding of how to identify possible hazards. The topic of Operation includes instruction regarding instruments and controls, maneuvering ans steering, and attaching and utilizing the fork.
